Welcome to Main Street Paragould"Main Street" is more than a name of a street in Paragould; it is an approach to downtown revitalization, a path to economic success, and an avenue for preservation of the downtown area. The National Main Street Center was founded in 1980 by the National Trust of Historic Preservation to rebuild the country's struggling downtown commercial areas. Arkansas joined the National Main Street network in 1984 through the Arkansas Preservation Program. After successfully completing the competitive application process, Paragould joined the statewide network in 1999. |

Paragould
"The Friendly City", is located on Crowley's Ridge in the
northeast corner of Arkansas and is the county seat of Greene
County. Named for two rival railroad owners, Colonel James Paramore and Jay Gould even the name is unique.
Incorporated in 1883, Paragould was a railroad town that
flourished due to the abundance of timber. It's continued
growth today is due to the town's citizens' belief an support of
themselves.
